The global theme for International Women's Day 2021 is "Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world". This theme has been chosen to celebrate the work of women and girls, around the world, who have contributed towards creating a better future and recovery from the pandemic. During this time, women have been on the frontlines, as nurses, community organisers and leaders - demonstrating their skills, knowledges and hardships throughout the crisis. For example, most of the countries that have had the most successful responses towards Covid-19, have been led by women such as New Zealand, Finland, Ethiopia and Denmark).Another theme is #Choosetochallenge. We are all responsible for our actions and we can all challenge inequality in order to celebrate all types of achievements and progress.

Although IWD is an important day as it highlights and empowers women in creative fields, in health, at home, in sport, in technology and at work, everyday should celebrate and promote equality and inclusion.
