Describing yourself and other people



Describing people as well as yourself is very important in all languages - it's great for conversations and can help with your writing skills.

Descriure persones i tu mateix és molt important en tots els idiomes; és ideal per a converses i pot ajudar-te amb les teves habilitats d’escriptura.

When describing yourself, you use I and my. For example, I am 22, I have a cat, my favourite colour is pink and my surname is Walker.
Quan us descriviu, feu servir jo i el meu. Per exemple, tinc 22 anys, tinc un gat, el meu color preferit és el rosa i el meu cognom és Walker.

This is different when you are describing other people. You use she, her, he, his, they and their.
Això és diferent quan descriviu altres persones. Fas servir ells, els seus, ella, ella, ell i els seus.

His name is Tom and he is 23. His favourite city is London.
Her name is Melissa and she is 50. She loves coffee and has 2 daughters.
Es diu Tom i en té 23. La seva ciutat preferida és Londres.
Es diu Melissa i té 50 anys. Li encanta el cafè i té 2 filles.

He/His is used when using masculine whilst She/Her is used to describe feminine. They/Their is used to describe plurals (groups of people).
S'utilitza He / His quan s'utilitza masculí mentre que She / Her s'utilitza per descriure femení. They / Their s’utilitza per descriure plurals (grups de persones).

Billie Eilish was born in 2001 and her birthday is the 18th of December. She is an American singer-songwriter and lives in Los Angeles with her parents and her brother, Finneas. She gained attention and fame from her song, “Ocean Eyes” and "Bellyache". Her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was released in 2019, and her song, Bad Guy, was her first number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100. The album debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 as well as the UK Albums Chart, making Eilish the first artist born in the 2000s to have a number-one album in the United States and the youngest female ever to have a number-one album in the United Kingdom. She has won 5 Grammy Awards, 1 Brit award and she has received 2 Guinness World Records. In January 2021, she released "Lo Vas a Olvidar" ("You Will Forget It"), with Rosalía as a feature on the Euphoria soundtrack. Her fashion style consists mostly of baggy clothing and she likes dressing the opposite of what others wear. She is a regular advocate on social media for animal rights and veganism alongside supporting United States voting rights, where she endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

Harry Styles was born in 1994 and his birthday is the 1st of February. He is a singer, songwriter, and actor. He grew up in Cheshire and he has a sister called Gemma. His career started in 2010 when he auditioned for The X Factor. After his elimination, he was invited to join the band, One Direction. Their debut single, "What Makes You Beautiful", reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in September 2011. Over the course of their career, One Direction have sold 70 million records worldwide, including 7.6 million albums and 26 million singles in the US  - becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. Styles released his debut album in 2017 and he made his acting debut in the 2017 film, Dunkirk. His second album, Fine Line was released in 2019. Alongside his music, he is known for his style and he is the first man to appear solo on the cover of Vogue. In 2018, he began modelling for Gucci and he has over 60 tattoos.

After finishing in third place on the X Factor UK in 2010, the group joined Syco Records. Their albums 'Up All Night' (2011), 'Take Me Home' (2012), 'Midnight Memories' (2013), Four (2014), and 'Made in the AM' (2015) have achieved huge success alongside their songs 'What Makes You Beautiful' and 'Best Song Ever'. In January 2016, the band went on hiatus so individuals could pursue other projects. As of 2017, they have sold over 50 million records worldwide. In 2010, all members individually auditioned for the X-Factor but were formed into a band by Simon Cowell. The band's first album, Up All Night, was released in 2011 and became the fastest-selling album of 2011. In March 2015, Zayn left the band to pursue a solo career. By May 2017, all members had released individual work and the band's reunion is yet to be confirmed.

Després d’acabar en tercer lloc al X Factor UK el 2010, el grup es va unir a Syco Records. Els seus àlbums 'Up All Night' (2011), 'Take Me Home' (2012), 'Midnight Memories' (2013), Four (2014) i 'Made in the AM' (2015) han aconseguit un gran èxit al costat de les seves cançons ' El que et fa bell i la millor cançó de la història. Animal Project - Jellyfish (Megan's example)

Despite their name, jellyfish are not fish - they are invertebrates (animals with no backbones). They have stinging cells in their tentacles, which paralyse their prey before eating them.  Jellyfish live in oceans and float in the water. The size of jellyfish can range from 2 centimetres to 7 feet. Jellyfish are 98% water. They eat other sea animals and algae. Types of jellyfish include Box Jellyfish, Deep-Sea Jellyfish, Irukandji Jellyfish, and Moon  Jellyfish. A group of jellyfish is called a smack. Some jellyfish are clear whilst others are blue, yellow, pink, and purple. Additionally, jellyfish can be bioluminescent, which means that they can produce their own light. Jellyfish have no bones, brain, or heart.  Their body is controlled by a nervous system.
