Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day (17th February) and World Kindness Day on the 13th of November. World Kindness Day was introduced in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement and is celebrated in many countries such as Canada, Australia, and the UK.


Ways World Kindness Day has previously been celebrated in the world:

  • Kindness UK gave out 10,000 chocolate bars across the train stations in London and organised a "Text Wave" across the whole country.
  • World Kindness Australia organised a Kindness Hug on Bondi Beach.
  • Worldwide Flash Mobs.


Ways to be kind:

  • Help people who are struggling or those who are lonely.
  • Celebrate acts of kindness each day.
  • Compliment another person -  "You look nice today", " You're trousers are amazing".
  • Say "Hello" to everyone.
  • Talk to / sit with / play with / have lunch with someone new.
  • Hold the door open for people walking behind you.
  • Write a kind note/ note of encouragement for someone.
  • Give clothes and items you no longer need or use to charity.
  • Listen to people.
  • Share positivity among your friends and family.
  • Let someone go in front of you in the queue.
  • Walk or cycle to reduce your carbon footprint.
  • Be kind to yourself.
  • Smile

World Random Acts of Kindness Day (17th February) inspires people every day and began in New Zealand.



Kindness Jar:
Use an empty jar and decorate it. Fill it with pieces of paper with acts of kindness written on or with things that make you happy.
